TRAINER BIO

Rap has been a personal trainer since 2011. Personal training started as a side job while he pursued a career in physical therapy, but soon after he started working as a trainer, he knew he wanted to make a career change. Rap fell in love with helping people get in shape! He loved how happy it made his clients after they saw and felt the difference in their bodies and life overall!

“It’s an amazing feeling to help improve someone’s well being by helping them get stronger and have more energy! I had to choose a fun path I would be passionate about, so that is why I am here!” 

What initially sparked Rap’s interest in becoming a trainer were all the injuries he went through in high school due to poor warm up and improper training techniques by under qualified and under educated trainers/coaches. He wanted to learn the safest way to train. After a lot of research and getting suggestions from some of the top trainers in his hometown (Winter Haven, FL), Rap decided to get certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). They are one of the very few personal training certifications that are physical therapy based and put an emphasis on corrective exercise and injury prevention (Pre-hab).

Rap eventually took it a step further and earned NASM’s advanced certification: Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). This certification is geared towards preventing injury. To put it in simple terms, as a corrective exercise specialist, Rap creates training programs that will get his clients in shape fast, but at the same time, correct posture, muscle imbalances and movement dysfunction, minimizing the risk of injury and maximizing movement efficiency.

With golf being one of Rap’s biggest passions, he also added a certification from Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) under his belt to be able to train any golfer, amateur or seasoned pro, on how to prevent injury and to perform better on the course!

Jacob Borton

TRAINER BIO

Jake grew up with a passion for sports and leading an active lifestyle. At UCF, he began his studies as an engineering student, but eventually changed his major to one he was more passionate about. Biomechanics became a main focus for him as he found it to be the perfect blend of engineering and fitness.

Throughout Jake’s youth, he participated in junior golf tournaments around the country and continued this throughout high school in Winter Park, FL. During his junior and senior year, he noticed some lingering pain in his left leg. It worsened and even became debilitating after playing sports. Eventually, he was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his hip, forcing him to be sidelined from sports for nearly a year.

Jake extensively researched ways to alleviate his pain and avoid surgery. His passion for helping others through health and fitness began here. Through hard work and a strong base of knowledge, Jake was able to get back into proper shape and become even stronger than before. The National Academy of Sports Medicine was a valuable resource to him during this time, so much so that he sought out to become a Certified Personal Trainer from their organization after he graduated high school.

During his time at UCF, Jake noticed the fitness industry taking some turns away from its true goal: helping people. He didn’t want to cover the latest fads or be an “influencer”, he wanted his clients to reach their goals and see progress in not only how they look, but how they feel every day. This is why Jake joined RAP FITNESS.

“I chose to be a trainer because I’ve seen the effect that fitness can have on people. I take pride in having a role in someone’s journey to health and strength.”

Christopher Parks

TRAINER BIO

Chris has always had a passion for health and fitness. He grew up living a healthy and active lifestyle. He wanted to help his father with his diabetes, so he wanted to use his knowledge and research to help improve his father’s and family’s overall health. ​

After high school, Chris’ sister was hit by a car. She suffered a concussion and tore several ligaments in her knee. After surgery and physical therapy, she made a full recovery. ​Seeing physical therapy help his sister sparked Chris’ interest in the field. Chris received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Central Florida (UCF) in Sports and Exercise Science and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) at AdventHealth University.

During Chris’ time at UCF, he became a Certified Personal Trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine and worked as a trainer at the University’s gym. After graduating, Chris decided to join RAP FITNESS so he could still enjoy his passion of helping others through health and fitness while pursing his main career goal of being a physical therapist.

To combine Chris’ passion for traveling and health and fitness, Chris also enrolled in a study abroad program in Melbourne, Australia for a semester during undergrad. In Australia he shadowed Physiotherapists and worked with Personal Trainers, immersing himself in their functional movement based fitness culture and therapy outlook. He wanted to continue learning and received his certification in Biomechanics and Human Movement at DBC Fitness Miami. This facility trains elite athletes such as: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, James Harden, etc…

I believe in teaching you how to move properly and efficiently. I’m here to help you reach your specific goals while correcting any imbalances and preventing injury.

Chris’ interests include: Basketball, traveling, trying new things/food, comedy.

These trainers have been vetted and each fulfill the requirements that RAP Fitness have of all our official trainers and staff. You can feel confident that by working with any of these authorized service providers you will be in the care of trainers who will help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

Lynn Burr

Lynn has been in the fitness industry for over forty years, seeking whole body health and wellness for a lifetime. Lynn was blessed to be born into a family who enjoyed and encouraged exercise. Her mother, Marylyn, is her hero, example and inspiration because she weight trains three days a week, bicycles, gardens and walks at over 80 years young. 

Lynn wants to help others learn how to exercise with proper form and technique, eat a balanced diet and understand the importance of a good night’s sleep making life full, joyful and energetic.

For fun she continues to research healthy, tasty recipes and to incorporate healthy lifestyle choices for herself and her clients. 

“I want to partner with you to specifically design a program that will ensure your success!” 

Lynn’s interests include: Riding her motorcycle, gardening, making jewelry, home improvement, being a spiritual leader in the community

 

Sam Jackson

Sam started his fitness journey with his own personal trainer taking him from not being able to even dribble a basketball at all to getting college offers to play in college in the span of a few years. Sam had seen such an improvement in his own life from his trainer helping him out that he knew he wanted to bring that same experience to others!

Sam loves to help individuals that may or may not feel like they have the tools or knowledge to be successful in fitness and would like more help to reach their goals.

“My main goal is to make sure that you are performing exercises safely and efficiently in order to reach your goals so you can live a happier and healthier life in fitness!

Sam’s interests include basketball, music, adventuring, boating, and fitness.

 

Karen Kestner

Karen is a Personal Trainer and Wellness Consultant with over 15 years’ experience. Since 2004 Karen has provided fitness and wellness consulting services to cities, fire departments, country clubs, manufacturing companies, and thousands of individuals. Her unique perspective on treating the mind, body, and spirit in achieving optimal heath was developed throughout her life as an athlete and was refined following 15 years in the health care industry working in orthopedics and cardiovascular fields.

Karen specializes in Functional Training, Sports Specific Training, and Custom Program Design.

“I enjoy inspiring my clients to live a healthier lifestyle through fitness. I believe in treating the mind, body, and spirit to achieve optimal happiness.”

Karen’s interests include: Going to the dog park with her husband and their dogs. Karen and her husband, a dog trainer, believe in adopting dogs from shelters. They have also fostered dogs in their home.

 

Kemper Turner

Kemper has always had a love for wellness and living an active lifestyle. Kemper played soccer and football for most of his life and during his senior year of high school Kemper began weightlifting and has not stopped since.

After high school, Kemper went to The University of Alabama. During his time here, Kemper worked as a Sous Chef at a fine dining Italian Restaurant. Upon returning home to Maitland, Kemper began his career as a Certified Personal Trainer.

Kemper takes a holistic approach to wellness, he believes the key to creating a healthier and better life is by bettering oneself in all aspects of Health and Wellness. This drove Kemper to study and build a knowledge base around all aspects of wellness so that he could help teach his clients how to implement these things in their own lives.

“I became a trainer so I could have direct impact on peoples lives and help them reach their highest true potential.”

Kemper interests include: Crossfit, Cooking, Traveling and Hanging out with his dog, Gunner!
